Sue Mi Terry Indicted on Charges of Working for South Korea

Expert on North Korea Allegedly Received Cash and Luxury Goods in Exchange for Assistance

Sue Mi Terry, a former member of the U.S. National Security Council (NSC) and current senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, has been charged with acting as an agent for South Korea. Terry, a North Korea expert, allegedly assisted South Korea in exchange for cash and luxury bags. Terry, 54, first acted as a foreign agent in June 2013, according to an indictment unsealed on Thursday. She went on to work as a senior analyst for the CIA from 2001 to 2007. The indictment alleges that Terry provided classified information to South Korean officials and lobbied the U.S. government on behalf of South Korea without disclosing her relationship with the country. Terry is also accused of receiving money from South Korea in exchange for her services. If convicted, Terry could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
