Kings Park Fire Update

The Kings Park fire has been declared 100 percent contained on December 16, 2021, after more than three months of firefighting efforts. The fire burned more than 4,000 acres and destroyed 36 homes.

Firefighters from across the state worked tirelessly to contain the fire, and the community is grateful for their hard work and dedication. The community is also grateful for the support of the many volunteers who have helped with the recovery effort.

The fire had a significant impact on the park, and surveys are underway to find out if any vulnerable flora has been lost. The park is expected to remain closed for several months while crews work to clean up the damage and restore the area.

The fire is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for wildfires.
