Heat Advisories Issued for Miami-Dade County

Miami Forecast for Friday, June 7, 2024

South Florida residents will once again face excessive heat this weekend as temperatures soar back into the 90s. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for Miami-Dade County, which will go into effect at 10 am today and remain in place until 8 pm Saturday night.

According to the NWS, the heat index, which measures how hot it feels outside, is expected to reach 105 degrees or higher during the afternoon hours. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Residents are urged to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.

The good news is that a drier air mass overhead will reduce the likelihood of afternoon showers and storms, providing some relief from the heat. However, it is still important to seek shade, wear loose-fitting clothing, and drink plenty of fluids.

For the latest weather forecast and advisories, visit the NWS website or tune in to your local NBC affiliate, WSVN.
